Introductory course to multi-pitch sport climbing

Multi-pitch climb

Date: April 25 and 26, July 18 and 19

  • Format: in-person at climbing areas in Madrid or surrounding areas
  • Group: from 2 to 4 people
  • Duration: 2 days

 

Course designed for people with some experience in sport climbing, one-pitch climbers who want to learn to progress safely and independently on multi-pitch equipped routes.

It includes
  • Professor / Climbing Guide.
  • Liability and Accident Insurance
  • Common climbing equipment (rope, belay devices, slings and HMS carabiners for setting up belay stations)
  • Travel to the practice location
  • Individual climbing equipment (helmet, harness, climbing shoes, anchor rope)
  • Individual climbing equipment (helmet, harness, climbing shoes, anchor rope)
  • Comfortable mountain clothing appropriate for the time of year (fleece, windbreaker, waterproof and breathable jacket, gloves and hat if necessary, etc.)
  • Backpack between 20 and 30 liters
  • Comfortable hiking footwear. Boots or sneakers.
  • 1 liter water bottle
  • Some food (bars, sandwich, nuts, fruit)
  • Sun protection (sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, cap and hat)
  • Mobile phone with battery

Anyone who, having some experience in sport climbing, wants to learn to climb multi-pitch routes with greater commitment.

The client may withdraw from the requested or contracted services, having the right to a refund of the amounts paid in the following cases:

  • Giving notice at least 7 days before the start of the course.
  • If the course is suspended or moved to another date due to bad weather, not having a minimum number of participants or force majeure reasons.
  • For medical reasons that prevent the student from taking the course (proof will be required).

If none of the reasons described above apply, failure to attend the course will result in losing the total amount paid for the reservation.

  • Mastering basic ropework
  • Understanding the belaying and progression system on multi-pitch routes
  • Learn how to set up meetings
  • Secure a lead and second climber using devices specifically designed for multi-pitch climbing
  • Learning to rappel, descending the routes
  • Learn how to abandon tracks in case of need
  • Knowing how to choose routes, schedule and plan the routes. Reading route diagrams

Course phases

The course is structured into 2 practical days of about 6 to 8 hours, depending on the group, weather, etc.
