Introductory course to sport rock climbing

Date: April 18 and 19, May 2 and 3

  • Format: in person at sport climbing areas in Madrid or surrounding areas
  • Group: from 3 to 8 people
  • Duration: 2 days

 

Course designed for people who have never rock climbed Or perhaps they've only climbed indoors and want to take the plunge into outdoor climbing. In two days, we'll cover the techniques needed to climb single-pitch bolted routes independently and safely.

It includes
  • Professor / Climbing Guide.
  • Liability and Accident Insurance
  • Climbing equipment (harnesses, helmet, slings and rope)
  • Travel to the practice location
  • Comfortable mountain clothing appropriate for the time of year (fleece, windbreaker, waterproof and breathable jacket, gloves and hat if necessary, etc.)
  • Backpack between 20 and 30 liters
  • Comfortable hiking footwear. Boots or sneakers.
  • 1 liter water bottle
  • Some food (bars, sandwich, nuts, fruit)
  • Sun protection (sunglasses, sunscreen, lip balm, cap and hat)
  • Mobile phone with battery

Anyone who wants to learn to rock climb. No prior experience necessary.

The client may withdraw from the requested or contracted services, having the right to a refund of the amounts paid in the following cases:

  • Giving notice at least 7 days before the start of the course.
  • If the course is suspended or moved to another date due to bad weather, not having a minimum number of participants or force majeure reasons.
  • For medical reasons that prevent the student from taking the course (proof will be required).

If none of the reasons described above apply, failure to attend the course will result in losing the total amount paid for the reservation.

Objectives

  • Knowing the equipment needed for sport climbing and its correct use
  • Understanding the belay system and safety chain in sport climbing
  • Knowing how to properly tie yourself to the harness and learning good rope handling techniques
  • Secure a lead and second climber using a specific sport climbing device
  • Learn the basic movement techniques for rock climbing
  • How to safely pass the rope through quickdraws and the anchor
  • To stop a fall by a lead climber in a smooth and dynamic manner

Course phases

The course is structured into 2 practical days of about 6 to 8 hours, depending on the group, weather, etc.
