In the event of an accident in the natural environment (or in any other area of ​​our daily lives), first aid is the primary resource for helping and stabilizing the injured. Applying these procedures in the mountains requires minor adaptations depending on the specific environment.

People who engage in sports and leisure activities in the mountains

The client may withdraw from the requested or contracted services, having the right to a refund of the amounts paid in the following cases:

  • Giving notice at least 7 days before the start of the course.
  • If the course is suspended or moved to another date due to bad weather, not having a minimum number of participants or force majeure reasons.
  • For medical reasons that prevent the student from taking the course (proof will be required).

If none of the reasons described above apply, failure to attend the course will result in losing the total amount paid for the reservation.

Content

  • Basic first aid skills
  • Dangers in the mountains
  • Mountain emergency management
  • Rescue teams and the peculiarities of helicopter rescue
  • Anatomy: injuries to the nervous system (TBI, stroke), injuries to the circulatory system (cardiac arrest, hemorrhages), injuries to the respiratory system (pneumothorax, asthma), injuries to the musculoskeletal system (sprains, fractures, dislocations)
  • Basic Life Support
  • CPR and AED: primary assessment, secondary assessment.
  • Lateral safety position (LSP)
  • Medical emergencies: hypothermia, heat stroke, harness syndrome, stings, foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO)
  • Most frequent injuries in the mountains, immobilization and mobilization of the polytrauma patient with improvised means
  • The mountain first aid kit

Objectives

  • To provide first aid to an injured person using improvised means.
  • Practice mobilization and immobilization of injured people in isolated mountain situations
  • Acquire basic first aid knowledge

Course phases

Theoretical-practical session in the classroom

  • Estimated time: 10 hours. From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. Presentation of first aid scenarios + practical exercises
