UIMLA Accreditation

Our Medium Mountain course allows you to obtain international accreditation from Union of International Mountain Leader Associations (UIMLA) thanks to a collaboration agreement with the Spanish Association of Mountain Guides (AEGMThis allows our graduates to develop professionally outside of Spain with this seal of quality.

CAG1 Certificate

Thanks to a working agreement with the Association for the Knowledge of Snow and Avalanches (ACNA) the students of the Medium Mountain course will study this subject following its method and obtaining the certificate of Avalanche Course for Level 1 Guides (CAG1).

The 2024/25 course includes an annual voucher for the Sputnik Alcobendas, Sputnik Las Rozas, Sputnik Legazpi and Sputnik Berango centers.

  • Conventional barometric altimeter (independent of GPS)
  • GPS Receiver
  • Laptop PC, GPS connections (Windows Operating System)
  • Maps of the areas where the practical training will take place

  • Mountain (winter) clothing
  • Winter mountain footwear (rigid or semi-rigid boot)
  • Hat
  • Waterproof gloves
  • Sunglasses (factor 4)
  • Ski goggles
  • Backpack (35-45 liters, for multi-day winter and summer treks)
  • Winter bivouac equipment
  • Stove and cooking equipment
  • Front
  • Mountain-approved helmet (only two days)
  • 3 HMS safety carabiners
  • Cords for self-locking knots
  • Flat tapes of 120/240 cm
  • Approved rope for single, double, and twin use. 30 meters. Type O hiking (30 meters. Minimum 8 mm)
  • Gaiters
  • Three-antenna digital avalanche transceiver with multi-victim function and discard button
  • Detachable snow shovel (long handle, not plastic)
  • Esophageal Temperature
  • Technical snowshoes, with heel lift and toe cap
  • Walking sticks with snow rosette
  • Complete mountain first aid kit
  • Other recommended equipment: tent, 1:25.000 Alpina maps (Guadarrama and Gredos), 1:50,000 Tienda Verde maps (Sierra de Guadarrama, Sierra Norte and Sierra de Ayllón) and 1:40.000 La Librería map (Sierra de Guadarrama)

Requirements

  • Having fully completed the training for Sports Technician Level 1 (CIS)
  • Having passed the specific entrance tests for the sport.

Recommended experience (or similar) for completing the training

To have completed more than 5 day hikes during the summer season, lasting at least 6-8 hours.

  • Routes in the Pyrenees, routes in the Alps.

To have completed more than 5 day hikes in winter using snowshoes, lasting at least 6-8 hours.

  • Ascents in the Pyrenees, ascents in the Cantabrian Mountains, routes and peaks in your autonomous community.

Having spent more than 5 days in mountain shelters, bivouacs or tents.

Recommended level of sports activity. (This is the level we will have during the multi-day sessions:)
