On Sputnik, People and honest decisions shape the path we follow And to ensure that this doesn't change, we have just begun a profound transformation of the company to reinforce our founding values and ensure sustainable growth.
WHY
The growth of the Team (we are now almost 300 people working), the extended hours, the number of supervised activities and the new openings have led us to suffer two of the major problems in the sports and services sector: job insecurity (many contracts for less than 20 hours to cover all shifts), the unequal workload (always the same people on the most intense days and times) and the disconnection between teams with different schedules.
Paradoxically, this situation was aggravated by our four-day work week, as a significant part of the staff found themselves in the worst conditions: only three days of work per week and always during the weekends.
The precarious conditions are causing disaffection with the project and a decline in user service, with constant staff turnover and the influx of junior staff who need training… This discontent is spreading throughout our community. This is definitely not Sputnik. This kind of growth is unsustainable and inconsistent with our vision.
WHAT
We need to reconnect with our founding purpose, make decisions focused on people, and generate a positive impact on the community and everyone around us who comes into contact with Sputnik. Ending inequality and precariousness is essential.
We must create an equitable work environment with equal opportunities for development. Therefore, we have established a new organizational and service model so that the entire team is included in the new plan in an integrated way. The concept of separate business areas is being eliminated, and we are creating a more personalized and supportive experience for those who visit us and need our services.
HOW TO
Employment stability: 96% of the team now has a full-time contract. Salary ranges have increased well above the levels stipulated in the collective agreement. Working hours are distributed over 16 days per month, and work-life balance measures remain in place.
Equitable distribution of the workload: The staff at the centers (technical team, customer service, cafeteria, and coordinators) will now have fixed shifts with alternating weekends. There is no team with fixed weekend schedules. Increased staffing will be provided during peak periods.
Unique experience model: Our entire team, which provides direct service to our visitors, is unified in a single sales and customer service area. Each professional profile develops new skills and complements the rest of the team.
FOR WHOM
Your responsibilities will increase, your schedule will change, and you'll undergo training. New opportunities for growth will arise within Sputnik through an internal professional development program.
They will enjoy a better experience in all areas of Sputnik as a result of the new experience model, low turnover and improved work environment.
After a significant economic and organizational cost and a commitment to achieving sustainable growth, increased team stability and long-term profitability.
By promoting a fairer and more humane corporate culture and work model, prioritizing people over profit at any cost. Yes, there are alternatives and profitable models guided by the social economy.
WHERE AND WHEN
The new Chamberí center was established with the commitment to implement the new work model, and it was implemented in Berango (Vizcaya) over a year ago. Alcobendas, Las Rozas, and Legazpi are adapting day by day, and some architectural changes will soon be made to facilitate the tasks of the customer service and sales team and to ensure everyone feels more comfortable and supported.
It's not a simple change, and there are still many loose ends to tie up. We know we need time to adapt and train... and a lifetime to learn!
WHAT WE EXPECT
In each and every center.
Each Sputnik project has countless unique characteristics and needs, and its teams know them best. They will make their own decisions, always based on a shared corporate culture.
Stability and professional development.
Reduction of staff turnover, improvement of community service, and strengthening of the Sputnik brand.
Faced with a landscape of new openings, it is essential to evolve in the way we organize ourselves and defend an honest future for all people.
Through a model that safeguards future hiring practices and the terms of current contracts. Our wellness plan will serve as the guide for creating a manual with firm and binding commitments that we will adhere to.
WHAT WILL CHANGE
We changed our organizational model, we changed the way we offer the experience, we changed our centers… all so as not to change, to recapture the Sputnik spirit of day one in Alcobendas. We reinvent ourselves every day so as not to compromise our company culture or the well-being of our people, our team, and our visitors.
We apologize if things don't always go perfectly the first time. Please be patient, as there's still much to learn, and we hope you'll join us on this new journey. We're sure it will be worth it!
