Information

It provides qualifications for working in climbing gyms, teaching, and guiding on rock. Training, safety, facility management, climbing instruction, and guiding on ridges and crests are some of the topics covered during the course.

The 2025/26 course includes a multi-center annual pass for all Sputnik centers.

Material

During the course, the student will need specific materials and others that can be used in groups of two.

Mandatory list of materials (to be provided by the student):

  • Notebook and pen
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear
  • Backpack 35 to 45 l
  • Individual equipment (harness, helmet, climbing shoes, anchor line)
  • Front
  • Stove and cooking equipment
  • 1 x 60cm Kevlar cord ring (recommended diameter 6mm, 5,5mm is acceptable)
  • 2 Kevlar cords of 3,5m (recommended diameter 6mm, 5,5mm is acceptable)
  • Self-locking pulley (Petzl Micro Traxion recommended)
  • One-way self-locking carabiner
  • 3 HMS carabiners
  • 10 express tapes
  • Dynamic braking device type ATC-Guide, Reverse
  • A double rope of 60m (for every 2 students)
  • A single triple rope, 60m certified (for every 2 students)
  • Crack extractors
  • A complete set of friends (up to size 4), microfriends and nuts
  • Maps of the areas where the practical training will take place
  • Orientation equipment (GPS, compass, altimeter)
  • Laptop PC, GPS connections (Windows Operating System)
  • Map holders
  • Guides with information about the routes and ridges where the practical exercises will take place
  • Personal first aid kit

 

List of recommended materials:

  • Two triple-certified ropes (one 40m and one 60m)
  • Gloves for crack climbing
  • Wall knife
  • Blocking fists
  • various cords
  • Recommended anchor line: Petzl Adjust Connect
  • Impact tool and/or screwdriver for the routing course
  • Tent

Requirements

  • Having fully completed the training of Sports Technician Level 1.
  • Having passed the specific entrance tests for the sport.

Recommended experience (or similar) for completing the training

To have climbed at least 10 trad routes of a similar difficulty level to those we will be covering in the course. Some examples:

  • The rocky area: East of the Bird, 6b. Tino of the Bird, 6a+, South of the Bird 6a
  • Honey Peak: Esteban Altieri, 6a+, Lola Flores, 6b, Espolón Manolín V+
  • Torozo and Villarejo: Gabino pan y vino, 6a+, Vía del Niño, 6a+, Guirles – Campos 6b.
  • Peñón de Ifach: Gómez – Cano, 6b.
  • Ponoig: The Fairies, 6a+
  • Riglos: Normal al Puro, 6b. Mosquitos, 6b.
  • Recommended level of sports activity.Sport climbing grade settled between 6c and 7a
